ministers should now fan out across the globe to spread gay marriage around the world.

‘I'm personally proud of this,’ he said. ‘I think it’s a really good step. I’ve told the Bill team I’m now going to reassign them because, of course, all over the world people would have been watching this and we’ve set something of an example of how to pass good legislation in good time.

‘Many countries are going to want to copy this. I talk about how we’ve got to export more, so I’m going to export the Bill team.

'I think they can take it around the world.

:-S

That should sort out our balance of payments. ;-) another reason to vote UKIP :D

Construction bounced back 0.9%, but still remains 16.5% below its peak, while manufacturing was up 0.4%, but still 10.2% short of its pre-recession level.

Still with the Tories plan to have the equivalent of sub prime mortages which have been a resounding success in the states coming to a town near you soon everything in the garden is roses, :-S

If D.C. wants to lose any support that he might have had among his elderly, white (and waning) members of local Conservative party Associations, then his support for this unneccessary Bill will do it, in spades!

If he wants to hand Nigel Farrago a great heap of ex-Tory voters, then this one is the 'last straw' for a lot of them. My 'feedback' from my Tory-voting relatives in the shires (retired Army officers and their wives, Farmers, Insurance executives, etc., etc.) would indicate enormous mutinous feeling amongst the ranks of some of his most hardened (and usually fanatically loyal)supporters!

Cheers,

Colin.

P.S. -- yes! I'm back! -- just under a week in the 'van (without internet devices) and here you all are, bashing 'twelve bells' out of each other on various threads! Still, Frank ( one of the main progenitors of these 'spats') can hardly accuse it of being boring, or even of driving people away because the subject matter is always the same, or the provenance of the same bigoted right-wing 'morons' ! -- unless he has joined their ranks, of course!

Mr Cameron boasted that Britain was now ‘the best place to be gay, lesbian or transgender anywhere in Europe’.

So couple that with the unfettered/uncontrolled mass of immigration (EU and the rest of the world's illegals) and the country will be over run by immigrants, gays, lesbians and transgenders........what a bloody mess successive governments have got us into!!!  Still I suppose they have to do something to keep the votes up because sure as hell is hot they have alienated a massive swathe of traditional Tory voters.

What planet is Cameron on?  The country is in a huge mess politically, financially and an infrastructure that's struggling to cope and this idiot seems to do nothing but alienate the traditional Tory voter.    UKIP here we come.

I have spoken to very many people, the most illuminating thing I've found is they often say things in private that they would never say in public, well lets face it you'd likely be arrested if you did (!) and we all thought George Orwell was fiction......................but to a man they have said they are ditching the Tories over this one single issue, that odious man Peter Tatchell and his "outings" represent everything that is bad about this whole issue AFAIC. but he's won the day.

A small minority over a huge majority, you couldn't make it up, perhaps there's hope for us smokers yet. >:-)

It beats me why anybody should get uptight about allowing others to get on with their lives if they aren't affecting anybody else. Mind you, anything that causes fewer people to vote Tory gets my vote! (lol)

Not being a religious man myself (though I am prepared to be convinced) this legislation has run roughshod across everything that the institution of marriage conveys to those who are Christian......and there are millions of them.  What I can't understand is why the Gov't chose to pander to the 'gay lobby'?  If it was as a vote winner IMO they shot themselves in the foot because this will surely lose them more support than they gained.  As an aside surely this legislation is going to create massive problems for 'married gays' when they travel to countries where their 'marriage' is either not recognised or is in fact illegal?

The following list is current.....whilst some places are not exactly at the top of most peoples holiday list it will certainly limit their 'married' wanderings.

Er, wrong again. Many people disagree with immigration without being racist. They do so for what they perceive are economic and demographic reasons. Many people oppose gay marriage for religious or legal reasons but they're not homophobic. I have two friends who are gay. They're against gay marriage for one reason only, which is the fear that it will inflame the anti-gay extremists even more.

However, when we have people who talk about a 'bender agenda' and 'Cameron's bum chums' it's a safe assumption that they are homophobic.

Of course there are many people who claim to be heterosexual but are closet gays. These are often the ones who shout the loudest as they attempt to convince themselves that they are really not gay!

Are we living in the same country? Unfettered immigration? Do you really have any understanding of the issue! And this 'idiot Cameron' appears to have a far better grasp of the mood of the country than you or the 'traditional Tory voter'.You may not have thought about it too deeply but at the next general election Cameron will be elected (and he will) by the ordinary British voter, not the tiny number of Colonel Blimps in the shires.Every public opinion poll on the subject shows an overwhelming support for gay marriage. The latest from YouGov shows 54% for and 37% opposed. 9% are 'don't knows' so we can safely assume that they're not really bothered! So just over a third of the population are opposed! And by the time of the next election, when people see that civilisation hasn't actually collapsed and people aren't rioting in the streets, the number in favour, or who really don't care, will be even greater. It does appear that Cameron has been politically astute on this subject!http://yougov.co.uk/news/2013/05/20/voters-back-same-sex-marriage/Finally, why do gays who marry have to fear going to the countries that you list? If they go now to certain ones they face the threat of discrimination. How will them being married affect their trip?Just as now, a gay man going to Nigeria for instance isn't going to broadcast the fact that he's gay, he won't be broadcasting the fact that he's married. It won't be on his passport. But that list? Every repressive and evil regime in the world is on it! Says it all I think!Ps Have you noticed the massive drop in support for UKIP lately! :-> It's a party that just attracts nutters and Neanderthals and the kind of people who talk about a bender agenda and bum chums! How many tattoos do you think I'll need to get if I want to join UKIP and progress through its ranks? ;-)

I seem to remember the same argument when landladies used to put up signs saying 'No Irish' or No Blacks'. When the Race Relations Law was passed we had the same Neanderthal types that we're seeing now banging on about a man's home being his castle and why should they have to let in these horrible blacks if they didn't want to?

Except of course they didn't call them blacks in those days, they had much more offensive terms such as n*gger or coon or jungle bunny. The language that people use is an underlying indication of their true state of mind, and anyone going on about people's bum chums is kidding himself if he thinks he hasn't got some deep-rooted problems with gays!

But I'm puzzled to learn that you are of the opinion that religious beliefs should override tolerance of people's sexuality or anything else for that matter. So if Muslims firmly believe that their religion should allow them to have four wives, which is against UK law, you would support them presumably?

Or do you believe that religious views should only be able to override laws or customs that you don't like? Back to school for you methinks!

But what is absolutely hilarious is you banging on about tolerance! God, you couldn't make it up! *-)

Back this evening when I've no doubt that you'll try to explain about this big hole you've just dug for yourself!

Are we living in the same country? Unfettered immigration? Do you really have any understanding of the issue!

Er.....yes I do.

The following quotes come from a variety of news reports both press and radio:

The former head of the UK Border Force (UKBF) Tony Smith says that Britain lost control of its immigration system between 2000 and 2003 under the Labour government of Tony Blair. He said 'There was a huge influx and frankly I don't think we have ever recovered from that'.

Labour sent out “search parties” for immigrants in a policy which has created a “problem” for British people unable to find work, Lord Mandelson has admitted.  he former Cabinet minister confirmed for the first time that New Labour not only welcomed but actively encouraged that mass influx of migrants.  Earlier this year Ed Miliband admitted that the last Labour government was not “sufficiently alive to people's concerns” over immigration and his party got “the numbers wrong”.

Between 1997 and 2010, more than 2.2 million immigrants came to the country - more than twice the population of Birmingham – with the annual net figure quadrupling during their time in office.

Lord Mandelson admitted: “In 2004 when as a Labour government, we were not only welcoming people to come into this country to work, we were sending out search parties for people and encouraging them, in some cases, to take up work in this country.”

In an interview with BBC Radio 4’s Today programme Mr Miliband admitted that the last Labour government was not “sufficiently alive to people's concerns” over immigration. The Labour leader said his party got “the numbers wrong” when estimating the number of migrants who would flock to the UK when restrictions on movements from Poland and other Eastern European countries were lifted in 2004.He suggested that he would in future consider limiting immigrants' rights to benefits in the UK.

“We didn’t get this right in government because I think we underestimated the impact,” Mr Miliband said. “We did get the numbers wrong… I don’t think we were sufficiently alive to people’s concerns once people had come into this country.”

In addition those immigrants happen to have been proven to be more 'productive' in the reproduction stakes:

Just over 723,000 babies were born in England and Wales in 2010, up from fewer than 600,000 in 2000. The average number of children each woman is likely to have has gone up from 1.64.

The main reason for the increase was immigration, with many migrants of child-bearing age, and with many from cultures where larger families are more common.

So yes I do have a good grasp of the problem and have had for some time unlike our 'illustrious' leaders (past and present) who have been either blind to the problem or just downright lying about it.  I am inclined to believe the latter because the truth for them was not convenient.  Anyone with an iota of sense would have seen that the fabric of society as we 'knew it' would be irrevocably altered by the mass of immigration over the years .  By 'as we knew it' I refer to the 'British' way of life.  A lack of integration has meant this country has lost it's identity..........something I deplore.

Should you be so inclined you might like to read 'Like the Roman' where you will find that Enoch Powell in his pressing for immigration controls is accurately quoted from his archive as saying that at the time most of those writing to him with concerns about the level of immigration were 1st and 2nd generation immigrants.  But as they were of Afro Carribbean or Indian or Pakistani extraction I suppose that's OK for them to complain then, unlike us caucasian Brits who were/are considered racist if we dare speak out..  I understand the letters are still in his archive.
