Guest 1footinthegrave
This time move over gay pride, for the new kid on the block "Ginger pride " MILITANT redheads are set to march through the Old Town of Edinburgh under the first ever ginger pride rally. Hundreds of fed-up flame haired protestors are expected to take part in next month’s event after it was rubber-stamped by the council. Organisers say the protest will highlight the sort of “ginge” taunts they suffer on a daily basis. :-S Blimey they should come on here and read the taunts I get, so that's me, off to the council to get my approval to stage my own 1foot taunts protest rally. :D
antony1969
They have a point though , why is it that been called a black / gay so and so is a capital punishment offence yet abusing someone who is ginger , fat , spotty is a bit of a giggle . Maybe John47 could take up the ginger discrimination case , as we know he despises all forms of discrimination .
RogerC
Hasn't the 'Pride' word been hijacked by the homosexual community? According to my Google searches 'Pride' linked to marches/protests came up with 'Pride parade and festival celebrating members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered (LGBT) community'. They better watch out otherwise they might be considered to be 'Gay gingertops' ..... :-)

Maybe John47 could take up the ginger discrimination case , as we know he despises all forms of discrimination . Absolutely! My three year old grand-daughter is ginger - and proud of it. When we were making a ginger cake the other day, my wife was reading out the recipe and came to the bit which read "now add the ginger". My grand-daughter looked at me and said quite forcefully "I'm not getting in there!". I have no doubt in her ability to counter any discrimination that might come her way in the future (lol) PS on a serious note, being called black or gay is not an offence. Discriminating against someone on the basis of their race, religion, gender or sexual orientation is the offence.

Discriminating against someone on the basis of their race, religion, gender or sexual orientation is the offence. It becomes offensive and an offence when as I pointed out you say it in such a way as you black/gay so and so , meaning you add any number of insulting words/names to the original black/gay word . In an earlier life I too was a ginger and suffered the usual ginger insults , now I get the usual bald insults as well as the ugly insults and the thick ones , the racist ones etc

CliveH
I understood that the Harry Potter books in particular did much to negate the bizarre attacking of people with red hair? So as well as getting reading "fashionable" again the books did a lot for those like the Weasley's. I remember going out with a stunning girl when i was 17 who had a mass of flaming red hair, green eyes and who had pale skin that freckled in the sun. Believe me - she was a stunner! malc d
Never mind. Under the " Declaration of Human Rights " I'm sure that eventually, all those who have not had a march devoted to them, will get one. Our banner will say " What about us ! " :-D p.s. It could have said " We demand ....... ! " - but no-one would have been able to think of anything. :-|

Guest 1footinthegrave
There should be another group that should be taking to the streets, spectacle wearers, and people like me of an older persuasion, and appear less than happy, then perhaps we could see the end of taunts like " you sad old four eyed git " ;-) I do however find it strange that it's apparently OK to call a Black guy the "n" word, as long as you are Black yourself :-S

I've yet to hear of a black person being brought to book for racism for using it. Funny old world we have 'evolved' into isn't it.

daviddwight
What about people like me that are hard of hearing. You can hear people talking to you but if they have a broad accent often you mishear the words and therefore get or give the wrong information. If I need to make an important phone call my wife has to do it for me, which is very annoying especially when they want confirmation from me so that they can share information with my wife.
