pat-hack
Does anybody have any advise on the difference between a van whose max payload is <3400Kg and one which is >3400Kg. I had a very confusing chat with a dealer who mentioned something about the height of the skirt around the vehicle and possible problems with servicing larger vans, mini and maxi chassis and something about stamping payloads. Very confused Newbie :-S
RonB
The same model of a motorhome often comes with a choice - usually a payload up to 3500Kg and an upgraded one (Maxi) to, say 3850Kg, to give you more payload. The upgraded one comes at greater initial and running costs, together with speed restrictions. Larger vans, normally Fiats, do have some servicing problems due to the manufacturers lack of dealer facilities for the size of vehicle. However, the position is improving and you now also have the option of going to any garage that can handle the work using the base manufacturers parts. The vehicles payload is stamped on a plate attached to the side of the vehicle and/or the engine bay crossmember. I would imagine that the dealer was referring to the move to the more lower chassis of many recent models.
