macp34
I'm having problems with my 3-way fridge. It works well and freezes on 230v, 12v, and propane gas but when working on gas emits a really foul smell in an adjacent cupboard. The smell is evident from the upper outside vent grill (not the exhaust vent). The lower vent grill is smell free. The smell is like that of a small dead animal! A recent fridge service failed to establish a cause of the smell. Any suggestions please. Mac
Brian Kirby
The smell from the cupboard points to a poor installation, in which the fridge has not been properly sealed into its recess. New fridges can emit quite an unpleasant acrid smell when first run for any time on gas, as paint and other coatings used during production burn off. How old is the fridge, and for how long have you noticed the smell? Have you only recently operated it on gas for an extended period?
