Why do they both seem to think Syria is any of our business, after all Iraq is a picture of success, as is Afghanistan after our intervention :-S

The difference is ;-) ............. DC doesn't think he's the new Messiah *-)..............and actually asked parliament B-)...............admittedly he didn't get the answer he was expecting >:-).........plus you'd think by now after the debacle with Iraq and Afghanistan, they'd of got the hint that when ever the West sticks its snout in the Middle East, they make the situation worse *-).........

If the West wants to do anything useful, then they should send in refugee ships and take out anyone that wants to leave, and then let the Muslim factions fight it out, its their bun fight .............not ours :-|

Why do they both seem to think Syria is any of our business, after all Iraq is a picture of success, as is Afghanistan after our intervention :-S

Because chemical weapons have been outlawed for 100 years and no state should be allowed to use them with impunity. If the Syrian state is guilty it should be punished, otherwise other nations will feel that they too can use these dreadful weapons.

If there is a powerful civilised and democratic nation and the small state next door introduces slavery of an ethnic minority and butchers those it doesn't like, do you think that the powerful democratic state should just say: "Well, it's none of our business" and let them do whatever they like?

I think that we have a duty to act if any state acts in the barbaric manner that Syria is alleged to have done. To ignore it would be cowardly and shameful. Would you have allowed Hitler to ravage Europe because 'it's none of our business'?

And whilst Iraq has not been without problems, it no longer has a vicious dictator who committed genocide (with poison gas) on the Kurds, used chemical weapons on Iran and massacred the Marsh Arabs.

And Afghanistan is no longer the Taliban training ground it was before the west was invited by its government to intervene. There hasn't been one Al Qaeda terrorist plot hatched there when previously there were many.

If Assad is proven to have used chemical weapons on his own people action must be taken to remove him.

And whilst you mention Iraq and Afghanistan you conveniently forget the many conflicts in which Nato, the UK and the US have made significant contributions and helped to establish peace, such as the Balkans and Libya to name just two.

You may well have noticed by now that there's not much deep thinking goes on in Chatterbox. Plenty of gut reactions, but little thought as to the outcome of those reactions.

Here's some deep thinking, who exactly are the bad guys ? perhaps John47 has the answer >:-) or do they make it easier for intervention by wearing a big white cross on a black tea shirt ?

Well, I hadn't realised that it is as easy as that!

Syria has 23 million people of very different ethnicity and religions so if, let's say, on third of the population takes up your generous offer that's nearly 8 million people that will need shipping out and rehousing, given jobs etc.

8 Million is more than the entire population of most of the other Arab states! As I said, you need to think a little more deeply before coming out with ideas such as this.

And went to war with Iran and invaded Kuwait! If Saddam had continued in power the death toll may well have been much higher, we'll never know. What I do know is that, long term, Iraq and the world will be a safer place without him.

And we wonder why so many see us as the enemy, going in gungho and nuking everything in site, then NOT finding any weapons of mass destruction as in Iraq.

Really, you're the bloke who's let Farage convince him that he's a credible alternative to the Tories! Like I said, not a deep thinker! Very gullible I'm afraid and once more, little thought given to the outcome of a country run by a bunch of short-sighted little Englanders!

I know, it's really clever being wise after the event isn't it! Whom did we nuke by the way?

And it was Saddam who claimed to have WMD and this is a man who'd used poison gas and chemical weapons on his own people.

I wonder what all those who are so clever about this would have been saying if he turned out to have WMD and had used them on other countries?

They'd have been excoriating Blair for doing nothing!

As I said, it's amazing how clever people are in hindsight!

Its called logistics Frank..............The world is a big place, I'd rather my taxes were spent getting innocent people out, and given the lessons of Iraq and Afghanistan in financial costs......... and the fact that both countries are now basket cases..................I'd of thought any option would be better 8-).........

Besides how many refugees did WW2 create?..............a few more than Syria I suspect *-)

Oh, it's just logistics! So that settles it then! And now that you've been told how many people may be involved we can ship them all over the world! Easy really! (lol) (lol)

And I love the bit about how you'd be happy to pay your taxes to facilitate this! Thanks for the biggest laugh of the week! (lol) (lol) (lol)

But I love even more the basic premise of your argument. A country starts killing its citizens using chemical weapons and your answer is to allow them to carry on doing whatever they like but to remove any members of the population who are unhappy with their government's policy!

What was I saying about thinking a little more deeply! Have you thought about standing as an MP for UKIP? You seem to be the right material! (lol) (lol)

So I should swerve from believing in capitalism and become a socialist and then a year or two later become a capitalist again! Mmmm, must think about that! ;-)

I think that would be pretty moronic actually! I know what my political views are and so far I've seen nothing to make me change my mind! (lol)

Now you on the other hand................... ;-)
