kelly58
We are planning a trip to the Dorgogne next week , last year we did the same and went to Le- Bugue / Salat / Marlel and Uzerche. This year we are off again to Le-Bugue ,but this time we intend to turn right to-wards Bergerac and Bordeau and would appreciate any advice of places to visit / avoid along the way. Although we have the ASCI guide we do tend to mainly use Aires. thanks ..
Guest JudgeMental
Well its one our very favourite areas of France and very historic, great caves...lovely towns, a bit wet so consequently green hence the popularity with the English. A good guide book really helps get under the skin of an area. Lonely planet or rough guide series a good place to start.
Tracker
The caves at Rocamadour and Lescaux are allegedly worth a visit and are also on our itinerary for about two weeks time on our way back via the Verdon & Tarn Gorges. That's if you like neanderthals which I guess you must do from being on this forum! We always head for the tourist info offices to get local info as the (generally) very pleasant sometimes English speaking young ladies are (generally) very helpful. If you are only away for a week it is a long way there and back and does not leave a lot of time for exploring?

pkc
N45*19'22" E0*35'01 Bourdeilles Aire Side of river, nice ancient town . N44*48'00" E1*13'17" Domme Aire. Worth a look. N44*56'06" E1*36'26 Martel Aire. Service point. Nice unspoilt french village. The parking is just around the corner at the railway Stn where you can take a tourist train along the Dordogne, 9/12 euro, depending on if you get the diesel or the steam train. Saved the best till last. N44*56'15" E1*00'38" Leseyies de Tayac Aire . Great aire at the side of the Dordogne river, Cro Magnon area with brilliant museums, (you might even meet Pelmetman or Antony there) good cafes, free WiFi at the Tourist office. Others. Rocamadour spectacular but touristy, Montignac. Lascaux cave paintings, actually an amazing reconstruction. Conque campsite by river gorge lit at night.( did not stay there) Enjoy your trip Kelly.
