PJay
Hi Guys and Girls Any one in South France at moment? we are hoping to come down late next week,. How's the weather ? Are there now lot's of spaces in aires and sites? What sort of clothing to bring, Jumpers? wet gear? Warm bedding , I guess, as the nights are probably getting colder. Are you using heating at night? Not sure how much gas we might use, as we can not fit French bottles in our locker. Best places to stay? Have not been for a few years now to this area, so may have changed. CliveH
Sadly I am not there right now, but my favourite part of Southern France is around Argeles near Perpignan. Fantastic to sit out with the Pyrenees as a backdrop. Very envious! How long are you going for PJay?
PJay
Hi Clive My favourite bit of France is also that area, around Roussilon We are playing it by ear, re time. Just booking one way ferry, and maybe staying 3/4 weeks. depends on weather. We had intended to go that way in May, but as the weather was awful , turned right to Spain instead May do the same again, but hope not. As it's our 57th Wedding anniversary on 6th October, will stay over there at least until then., and find a nice place to eat "Posh" meal.
CliveH
Ah! yes - the land of Cote de Roussillon, Corbieres etc! We have done the same thing - weather not good in France - over the border into Spain - great fun! We were last there many years ago and went into Spain - Rosas was lovely and we found a great restaurant in the "lanes" part of Rosas that went back into the cliff face so we were sitting in a kind of cave. I remember the meal was fantastic and the atmosphere tremendous. With Figueres and Girona nearby it is a great area to explore. Figueres is great if you like Dali, the museum is worth a visit. As I say - very envious! B-)
