Using Broker to sell Motorhome

Recommended Posts

Beware the pitfalls. My Motorhome was advertised while unfit for purpose ie, required repair work to be done in five weeks time, I pointed out to the Broker that it should not be advertised till then. But he went ahead regardless. I cancelled the agreement an the broker demanded £1749.75. I ignored this and now have a bill for £1956.73 from his Debt Collector. I am 82 years old and am extremely worried about his threat of suing for this amount + costs.

The advice to speak to the Citizen's Advice Bureau as quickly as possible is as sound as a bell. You need to understand what stage in the procedures your broker is at before you can do anything. The CAB will be able to work that out for you if you get together all the papers you have.

Also check to see:

- if your motorhome insurance provides legal aid and if so, for what. Sometimes it is restricted to accident claims or is not included in your policy.

- your house insurance usually provides legal aid although that is often limited to house matters.

- whether any clubs and associations you are members provide of legal advice eg AA, Which.

Your broker will have to go through a set procedure to recover the alleged debt.

You've taken a step forward by posting on this forum. Now take the next step and talk to the CAB.
