Mel B
Just remembered something funny from when we were in Ireland! They are nuts on hurling (cross between hockey and rugby!) and we were constantly hearing about the matches being held and the new 'Hawkeye' system that they had at the Crook Park venue which checks such things as whether a ball has gone over or under the bar and is therefore a goal or not (or whatever terms they use!). There was one game, the All Ireland Minor semi-final, which was held there and the ref thought there had been a goal scored by Limerick but the Hawkeye system indicated a miss and therefore the goal was deemed not to have been the correct decision, so at the end of normal time it was a draw. This meant that they went into extra time and the other team, Galway, won. However, it then transpired that the Hawkeye system had not been set-up correctly and was still set-up for football (a much larger ball) so what appeared to be a 'miss' was in fact a goal! If this had therefore been correct at the time, then Galway would have gone through and there would not have been any need to go into extra time! Now for the best bit .... stay with me ... what makes this so funny you may ask? Well the Hawkeye system is sponsored by .... wait for it ..... SPECSAVERS!!!!!
