If you're a fat of the TV series "Heartbeat" then Goathland is worth a visit (it was used as 'Aidensfield'). There's also Eden Camp, a 2nd world war museum which is very interesting and you'll see a reconstructed post-war prefab bungalow, unfortunately though only from the outside (I was born in one!). If you fancy a further trip then York is not that far away and the Railway museum is free to go into and you can actually climb into some of the rolling stock and play choo-choo!!!!! :-D

You can forget about Whitby and Scarborough if you are a motorhome owner. Extremely motorhome unfriendly now. Unless you want to pay over the odds for a campsite outside of the Town. Mind you, a Councillor would disagree with that ...... but there again, his family own the local site. :D

Yes, the Brigg and country park have been very busy this year with the better weather perhaps. It is ideal as you have a nice sea view and can leave the van and walk easily into filey.

Filey is an excellent base being a nice small old fashioned town, the newest addition ( objected to by the locals ) is a tesco with free limited parking.

I am no fan of public transport but have come to realize that vehicles of any kind are not welcome anymore, so the excellent new bus station is really handy for Bridlington/ Scarborough etc.

Although a nice run is through scarborough along marine parade ( pay to park if stopping) up to whitby (spaces for vans on the top past the whale bones) on to the scenic pickering road past fylingdales radar dome down through thornton le dale and back to filey.

We have also stayed at cayton bay park with good results ( with bus outside)

Oldies note take your bus pass as they are accepted.

Alan.
