Cliffy Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 On the dash board of our 2004 Ducato we have two 12 volt sockets a lighter socket which works when the ignition is on. (This works fine) and there is another 12volt socket which says 180 watt max on the cap. According to the Fiat manual this socket, which they call a Current Socket should be permanently live. It is completely dead so I assume the fuse must be blown but I can not find any reference to the fuse in the Fiat manual. Does anyone know where I will find the appropriate fuse? Thanks in advance
747 Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 It is not normally live. It wasn't on mine anyhow. They are both permanent live now, thanks to the fused link in the fusebox.
Brambles Posted September 28, 2013 Posted September 28, 2013 I do not know what manual you are reading but mine says the sockets are only live with the ignition switch in the MAR postion. What I can tell you is they are both only powered up when the ignition is 'ON'. The fuses are housed in the Dashboard left hand fuse and relay box . Remove the panel with the two screw below the small open storage compartment. The fuse for the cigar socket is F44 and for the aux socket the power is shared with the heater fan and is F55. The positions of these are shown in the FIAT handbook. Try page 139. If your heater fan works then your aux power socket should work.
Brambles Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 I posted this a while ago, see http://www.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/Motorhomes/Motorhome-Matters/Solar-panel-and-the-cigarette-socket/26795/ I have not checked how accurate it is but should at least give you a clue. "Brambles - 2009-05-17 1:30 PM Okay doky, for 2002/06 ducato An easier method, have not checked on vehicle yet, is to remove the appropriate relay and short out the sockets for terminal numbers 30 and 37. TO1 is for the Aux socket, and T12 for the cigar lighter socket. This then makes use of existing fuses. If anyone tries this do test 1st with a small fuse in series or a light bulb, just in case you make an error. Update in case anyone is trying this on 2002 on model. Left side of dash fuse box. T12 relay is for the Aux power socket (right side of central pocket) and the relay also powers the heater fan. So mod for that one has to be done by removing fuse F44 and linking bottom of it and link via new fuse holder to top of fuse 36 or 62. For the cigar socket it is relay T01 and it can be linked across terminals 80 and 37. As far as I can tell nothing else is powerd by this relay. Position of relays and labels to NOT match the ids on rear of fuse panel cover. T12 is top second from left position. T01 is relay 3rd from left position. This was checked on a 2003 2.0 JTD. "
Cliffy Posted October 2, 2013 Author Posted October 2, 2013 Just had chance to check the cigarette lighter works with the ignition in the MAR position but not the Current socket I only need one to work to use when the habitation 12v socket is committed to other uses. Is it ok to leave the ignition in the MAR position for a long period whilst I charge my phone, it does not feel right to me. I welcome the other comments and sugestions. The heater fan works ok, page 139 in the hand book is not relevant and I dont trust myself to link fuses. Thanks. I did think I might put a new in line fused supply in to the current socket, any sugestion as to the best permanent live I could use?
pepe63xnotuse Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 To save me any risk of buggerin' something up, on ours, I steered cleared of messin' with existing wires/relays etc (lol) ...and just added an additional socket fed via a fused supply direct from the vehicle battery (..this was mainly so I could plug in our a small solar panel). I also fitted similar to the leisure battery...

If thats all you want it for why not just add an extra socket(or two) to the hab 12v circuit?

I all ready run the TV and the Satellite receiver off the 12 volt socket in the Habitation so did not want to overload it. I suppose I could connect a fused socket straight to the leisure batteries, which are under the lounge seats, the socket would fit nicely in the seat base. I think I have had a mental block about the cab Current Socket because of my fixation with 'if it is there it should work', even if I don't need it
