We are on Camperplaats Weert, on the edge of the pleasant Dutch town of Weert, just over the boarder from Belgium. This is a private aire, so think of a top class CL and this gives the feel of it. There are 22 places, most are hard standing surrounded by grass, but a couple are just on hard standing. The setting is semi-rural adjoining fields with goats and small ponies on one side. Facilities include hook-ups(1000watt max), spotless toilet, indoor and also spotless emptying point, waste run off and summer house with tables,chairs, leaflets, maps etc. Town is about 15 min level walk alongside working canal. Owners live on site and are very friendly, speaking some English and with much humour. As an example of the welcome given yesterday they invited all the people on the aire for coffee and local cake, think called fly cake, which was a really nice way to spend an hour despite our lack of Dutch!! In summary then a great aire which should even please those who would not normally use Aires. Stay is restricted to three days, and gets very busy at week-ends, so best to arrive early on Friday. Cost for all this is just 10€/nights, or 8 if you do not want electricity. Not in All the Aires in Belgium and Holland book, only got to know of it by word of mouth from Dutch vanner met on aire in Belgium, but certainly worth a visit. GPS co-ordinates are N 51.25424. We have certainly had three lovely days here, intending just to stay one, helped also that every day has been under clear blue sky and warm. robertandjean Posted October 1, 2013 Author Share Posted October 1, 2013 Yes Mel it is restricted to motor homes and is not a mini-camping, but have in past been on many camp sites with much fewer facilities. (Sign at entrance says motor homes only no camping, and pitches are certainly set up for motor homes not caravans or tents). Forgot to mention also excellent WiFi connection which is free, another real plus of this aire. Next time you visit Holland one sure you will enjoy.
