eaglehaslanded
We have a Hymer 614 and if we are caught out in bad weather the noise on the roof disturbs my sleep patterns. Does anyone else suffer this problem and is there anything on the market to reduce the noise level?

colin
It's all part of the 'experience', I would recommend parking in the open and not under trees, as the noise is then more 'even' and finishs as soon as rain has passed.

tonyishuk
If you have side roof bars, you could stretch a weather sheet over the top of the m/home Useful as a sunshade as well. Rgds

Tracker
Absolute guaranteed cures. Sell the van - stay in a hotel - or simply head South and camp where the sun shines more regularly!
fjmike
There has been several vans that have a rubberised roof , I always assumed this was to deaden the noise . Perhaps I was wrong :-S

rolandrat
You could always fill the roof with solar panels to cushion the pitter-patter.
Colin Leake
We used to have a Rapido with a GRP roof that had a chequer pattern on the flat part of the roof. For some reason it was remarkably quite in in heavy rain.

lennyhb
Traffic noise & trains keep me awake but we both like lying in bed to the sound of heavy rain on the roof. You could always take a tent with you and move into it when it rains. :D
Will86
Sleep under the van on the grass ... or erect a tent over the top
Frankkia
A couple of years back Frankia had, in their accessories list, a roof shade to keep the rain from bouncing off the roof and to keep the 'van cooler in hot weather. It looked like an Omnistor awning mounted on 1 edge of the roof which could be drawn across the roof. It doesn't appear in their current brochure - I doubt they had too many takers. Funny you should say that - PEANUT BUTTER. A 1 inch thick coating over the roof works wonders. Only lasts about 2 weeks, but the resultant guano (free!) is just as good. :D
