It is true. I run a small forum for a bit of fun myself (see second link in my sig) and even on there I have had to remove libelous posts and was even requested officially by the Forum provider to remove an offensive cartoon!

Sadly I think what we write on the internet is going to become more and more scrutinised so yes. Be careful what you write

Seems reasonable to me.

If anyone slags off a company among friends at the pub that is one thing, but if they publish on the world wide web it could have devastating effects on a company - even if what they publish is not true.

Things said on " Social Media " in general is becoming quite a problem - just look at Twitter.

And long may it continue - in a fair society everyone should be held accountable for what they say and write about any other person as well as any company.

Freedom of speech is all too often deliberately misunderstood to mean freedom to insult, denigrate and initiate untruths and false perceptions - as I know only too well from some of untrue and unjustified crud hurled at me on this forum at times.

Worst of all it generally comes from people who claim to be intelligent and responsible people who should know better but choose to hide behind the very convenient mask of anonymity provided by a computer forum.

So how do you explain this comment from you posted only a few minutes ago?

'It's always the same when the same old faceless wonders elect to personalise yet another thread for the benefit of their own ego.'

If someone has a point of view with which you may not agree then they are posting for 'the benefit of their own ego'.

Why is that? In the thread in question it was nothing do do with anyone's ego. It was just differing viewpoints.

And just a couple of days ago you actually started a thread 'All quiet on the forum frontline' with this comment:

'Ain't it quiet on here of late with far fewer insults, egos, and generally offensive attitudes on view than usual! I wonder why that would be?'

What was the point of that? We all know that it was a nasty little baiting attack against a person or people with whom you've had spats.

In fact you did it again later in the thread prompting one member to accuse you of 'Frank baiting'.

I'm sorry Richard, I really don't want to start a row with you but you are being incredibly hypocritical here and you can be as bad any anyone else.

And I will not accuse you of doing it for your ego as you are prone to do of others. I'm not on here for my ego as I'm sure you're not.

Frank you really do need to look at all the times that you have responded to many posts from many people with insults, put downs, nasty minded assumptions and personal attacks that bear no relationships to the threads under debate and by raking over and quoting past history for your own ends.

One could almost say that it is your specialist subject.

I suggest that you look back through almost any thread where a spat has started and you will invariably notice that is was you who chose to misinterpret what was said and, instead of responding to the subject, elected to use it as yet another excuse to be unpleasant to someone.

It seems to be in your nature - you can't stop doing it - but it is gratifying that you do at last now recognise these characteristics in yourself sufficiently to complain.

Perhaps I was wrong to stir things up on this occasion, and I apologise to you, but that is how I feel having endured so much unprovoked crud from you and a few others over the years.

I will try to resist the temptation to have another unprovoked go at you - although it is rarely aimed at solely you - if we can both try to think before we write in the interests of a peaceful forum?

Deal or no deal?

Unlike some on here you're an intelligent man so you must be aware that you have your traits just as I have mine and sometimes, as I've pointed out, and you've acknowledged, they aren't pleasant.

Anyway, I agree, deal! Let's both try to be nice to each other.

I must log off. We're in Marrakech now the biggest city so far and my Maroc dongle is rubbish and taking five minutes to upload a post.

Bloody hell.....does HE 'ever' quit bitching or finding something to argue over?  The slightest hint of 'bait' and he is off.  Just imagine working for this argument picking nitwit...........on the other hand I won't because it would be too depressing to bear.

Judging by the 'news' these days the main growth industry is statistics.

93% of news items inform us that we are 4.3% better of since GDP grew by 1.8% taking into account the 0.8% rise in employment since the immigration rate fell by 2.68% ( year on year ) which has enabled hard working families to enjoy a 3.25% improvement in living standards in 0.78% of households, allowing for 1.2% inflation - in real terms.

Trouble is that at least 56.84% of politicians believe this crap.

Every day I wake up is a happy day - so I always wake up happy - if she is not already awake - and we both begin every day in full happy mode.

Sometimes, but not often, outside influences conspire to suspend that happiness, but only whilst the issue is dealt with after which full happiness at where we are in life and everything we have resumes.

We are indeed fortunate to live in Great Britain and to have had the opportunities granted us by the freedoms that our country cherishes and that many of our fathers died to uphold.

Am I happy - you betcha I am!!

Yes I feel the same way. We have a friend who is not yet 40 - but she developed bone cancer because she was "too young" to get it apparently and so was not tested for it when she had aches and pains.

Then when she had other symptoms a more thorough GP realised what was going on.

She is terminal and is now confined to a wheelchair as she has a broken hip.

She was given months to live over a year ago.

Incredible person.

And sometimes I sit here moaning cos I have man-flu.

I think this is probably another urban myth, if not the likes of Trip Advisor, Reevoo, and numerous others could be in big trouble, add in the thousands of websites that in include customer reviews both good and in some cases very bad, and the potential for litigation would appear to be infinite. ;-)

Here's a review from Trip advisor for one of our local hostelries, I must add having some local knowledge is probably a typical experience, but get sued for their comments, I doubt it.

" We popped in for a quick lunch yesterday and were greeted by surly unfriendly staff. We ordered quick easy dishes.....baked potatoes, cheesy nachos and sausage and mash for a 2 year old. We waited for 45 minutes and were served microwaved cool potatoes, nachos which somebody had managed to burn and sausages which had barely any pork in them. Great position, awful place...avoid avoid avoid"

And another thought, I've recently used a garage in the "trusted garage" scheme, I wonder, does that mean all the rest that are not in the scheme cannot be trusted at all..........perhaps they could sue for not being included because of the implication of not being in the scheme :-S

Morning Doveyman.... 1foot..... Mike............or is it Eric? ;-)...................has it stopped raining yet? :D
