david lloyd
Hi everyone, Been enjoying some winter sun in Andalucia and the 90 watt solar panel fitted last year to our IH Tio R has done a great job. On most days the leisure battery is fully charged before lunch. However, as we are not roaming about much the engine battery is gradually going down a bit. Seems a shame not to capture the spare capacity from the solar panel - but what is the best way to divert the solar charge to the engine battery once the leisure battery is fully charged? lennyhb
You have a few options, you could fit a Battery Master, or change your solar regulator for one that will charge two batteries or simply fit a changeover switch on the output of the solar regulator so you could manually switch it to the engine battery.
