hallii
I am weighing up the options, I will go to Venice and either drive back/round to Croatia or as an alternative I could go down to Ascona (Italy) and catch a ferry to Split and drive back up the other way so to speak. My questions are :- how much is the ferry one way for a 6 mtr van? Can we still sleep in the van or do we need a cabin? H

Guest JudgeMental
We did it in summer 2012 can't remember price exactly, but a rough guess between 3 - 400 euro? Just look it up on line. Crossing fine, we had a cabin, no sleeping in van......

Guest JudgeMental
Thats a long way around! and you will need to drive all the way back up the country...., we took that route as we wanted to do Tuscany and Umbria and they were the highlights of trip to be honest. Its a long overnight crossing not equivalent to a channel hop..would be great if it was cheaper but have to be realistic......
hallii
I think I will not go as far as Ancona now, I will go as far as Venice and then head towards Croatia (the main destination) unless Italy is so nice we get settled in and stay there!
