JohnP
I recommend aire at Pont-a-Moussan north of Nancy. By the river with hookups and short walk to town. Arrive early in day.

As you are driving down a mountain valley shouldn't too much of a problem just head for one of the ski resorts you can always overnight at them and they are deserted in the summer. Flyinghigh
One I can recommend , went there last year is Dun Sur Meuse. N49 .29'451 E 005.10'712 Right by the river with electric and shower, short walk into town for your bread, Very pleasant place to be
Solwaybuggier
En route worth thinking about Stenay - on the edge of town by the river (Meuse?). 2 areas, one on a peninsula, one more in the town, hook ups, toilets and wifi. Interesting beer museum in the town, and several restaurants.
