I post a comment only what we see today IS NOT SMOG

The S in smog was officially designated that way due to Sulphur.

Chimney smoke (sulphur) is hygroscopic, because of the air conditions at that time the smoke descended to ground level and absorbed the fog hence SMOG What we have today is just dry dust.

I was in London on its worst day 1952 the air was BROWN, I could just see across Oxford Street. That's how bad it was then.
