StuartO
I have been hunting for some stretcher bars to improve the stability of our windbreak and they seem to be difficult to find. At Peterborough last year there was a stall selling lots of windbreaks which also sold (separately as well as with the windbreaks) adjustable wooden stretcher bars for £3.95 each. It was a man and wife sort of company, not a big firm. Does anyone know who they are and have contact details ofr them please? Alternately any source of windbreaks with top bars. betsy
Hi Stuart, I think that the company you are talking about is called Windblockers. Did I see one of their ads at the head of one of these pages the other day? They must have a website. Cheers.
StuartO
Lillypad leisure do Windblockers and its not them - although of course they also do lots of Shows. On their stand they had lots of windbreaks erected, different colours and sorts - and not much else.
Matrix Meanderer
If you want the real deal then buy a Jormax windbreak. Website is: http://www.jormaxwindbreaks.co.uk We gave up with wood and plastic set ups and bought one of their super windbreaks which has metal poles with tensioning bars and NO guy ropes. We have even hammered the poles into hardcore surfaced motorhome pitches but you do need to use a good lump hammer to do this. Yes they are not cheap but you will only ever need to buy one of these. Ours has withstood very strong winds even when set up on grass and loose gravel. The company is at the Peterbnorough Show this month - have a look. :-D

The company that makes them is a small family set up - they are very helpful so probably will make you a bespoke unit. Suggest you give them a call or talk to them at Peterborough. Mel B
As an aside to this ... at the car boot sale yesterday I spotted a chap selling a garden pest control barrier, it was called "Haxnicks Micromesh Pest & Wind Barrier" ... it struck me that it could prove to be a dual purpose item: to serve as a lightweight windbreak for our camper and also be used to form a 'pen' to allow our dogs to potter rather than having to keep them on long leads. :-) So, for the princely sum of £3 it was mine!!! :-D I've just had a shuftie on the web and it is normally a lot more than this so I think I got a bit of a bargain! :-> http://www.keengardener.co.uk/pest-control/4366-haxnicks-micromesh-pest-wind-barrier-x2.html If it works as I think it will, I can replace the bamboo poles with something a bit more robust if needed, or may just use ties to hold it in place. Cattwg
I think the company you are looking for are at cornishwindbreaks@btinternet.com We bought a windbreak off them last year at the Malvern show and they were also selling the white plastic extenders that you referred to. Hope this helps. Cattwg :-D
Will86
Well there you go if MelB has bought one , its gotta be good, and she sure don't miss much that goes with a good day out. But to use as a garden pest control break I have doubts.
