Clear coat spray

On my Mobilvetta it has several parts which are clear coated over the top coat , only thing is it so thick unlike the clear spray from Halfords etc. With my van its the joining strip between body and valance panels with the usual rubber strip over the screws, this part is flaking and looks a right mess. I stripped it right down to the metal and done the usual priming and topcoat but when using the clear spray with five coats it had done nothing.I should imagine that these parts are dipped at factory to get such a thick coat. How ever is there anything on the market I could try?.

The original clear lacquer is two pack and is thick and hard as nails. Halfords Etc ready for use (RFU) is very thin and requires may thin coats to look good. If you want an instant shine paint, use Cellulose lacquer from a spray gun or airbrush.
