Recommended Posts

hi all I have a autotrail Arapaho 2008 & on my last trip I lost the round chrome badge on the side just below the over cab bed window

I rang autotrail to get a new badge that they sent out but its the wrong one

the one they sent was a chrome thick vinyl badge sticker .

the other side is chrome plastic dome badge around 58mm x 5mm thick stuck on with double sided tape

tis badge covers a screw on the side trim

I rang autotrail back and he keeps saying it the correct badge

can anyone help out with this

Hi Shotgun,

Why not send an email with photo attached, then they will know exactly which part you are seeking. I have always found the parts department to be very helpful, they may also ask for your build number which can usually be found on sticker which is in the same overhead locker as the PSU.

Hope this helps ;-)

Cheers,

John & Anne.

Hiya shotgun we had a 2010arapaho and the chrome badge came off the side of ours i went to the dealers and they looked it up and ordered one from autotrail with delivery i think it came to £16.00 i was amazed when it turned up and all it was ,was a small disc of shiny vinyl atleast it covers screw hole :although i never did stick it on i must admit i was expecting a more robust metally type thing (especially for the money) i never really took much notice of the remaining one and every time we went out in van i kept forgeting to have a look i found it in the kitchen drawer the other day and threw it out otherwise i would have sent you it and you could have had a spare for when the other falls off lol pp:). Arapaho's are the best we loved ours :)

What about making a custom one to your own design out of epoxy resin. Just make a mould the same diameter as the original - place whatever motive or initials or whatever in the bottom and then pour in the resin.

When it has set - leave it for a good few days to really set hard then sand it smooth and then buff it up.

The Custom Car guys do this a lot.

I have seen some awesome looking home design badges used to replace the run of the mill factory badges.

It does seem bad service - about ten years ago, when we realised our Avondale stickers were a bit "tired" we phoned the factory and they sent a full replacement set and a brochure for our van as a gift.

We were absolutely delighted with Avondales response. And when we traded it in, the price we got was far better than we would have got with the old faded stickers.

Shame Avondale are no more.

Have you tried a breakers yard?

Hi Pam;

I could do that but why cant autotrail just supply the badge

they are still fitted on 2011 motorhomes

I find his very bad service for a dealer

I assume you are looking for the small badge on the rear end of the raised section that runs around the base of the overcab moulding. This was still present on some Auto-Trail models for the 2012 model-year, but was not used for the 2013 model-year when the design of the overcab moulding was altered.

Unfortunately motorhomes are not like cars and there is no requirement for motorhome manufacturers to maintain a stock of specialised bits and pieces for a set period of time. Consequently, it's far from uncommon for minor (or even major) spare-part availability to rapidly dry up following a model change.

I suggest you write to Auto-Trail about this, returning the unsuitable vinyl sticker and requesting that the cost of it to be refunded (assuming you were charged for it, of course!) Describe exactly what you want - a domed-plastic round chromed badge 58mm diameter x 5mm thickness - and include a photo of the badge that you've still got. Ask Auto-Trail to confirm whether the type of badge (as fitted to your 2008 Arapaho) can be obtained and, if so, what the Auto-Trail part number is.

It may be that Auto-Trail can no longer provide the domed-plastic badges and the best they can offer is the vinyl sticker.
