Spadge
Often seen on the ladders on the back of a motorhome to prevent unauthorised access are these readily available in the accessory shops or made to suit by a local fabricator (?)
pepe63xnotuse
Hi.. Well "bought" ones are a daft price! 8-) http://www.agentfiamma.co.uk/fiamma-safe-ladder-security-device.html What about just using a strip of decent ply, just painted up and with some suitable hook/brackets and lock facility? (..if it was stiff enough, it wouldn't take much to make it "dual purpose", so that it could also be used as a lightweight table/stand?..maybe just to stand drinks on, when sitting outside?).. Cliffy
If you are a little bit handy I would look at something like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Aluminium-Tread-chequer-plate-750mm-x-250mm-x-2mm-/281083512316?pt=UK_BOI_Metalworking_Milling_Welding_Metalworking_Supplies_ET&hash=item4171e205fc Nice and light and with a spray over with lacquer it would keep it's shine. You could maybe source some cut to size but cheaper to cut it yourself and you would have off-cuts to make brackets out of.
Mel B
I managed to get one of the abysmal Fiamma ones cheap ... too narrow to prevent anyone getting up the ladders ... so I altered it! it just so happened that we'd got a new fridge and freezer so I removed the door panel off one of the old ones and a chap in the workshops at work bent it into shape for me on the big press they had, to the measurements I gave him. Hubby then spray painted it silver for me then I riveted the existing ladder guard to the front of the panel and drilled a hole for the securing hook/locking knob, I had some old plastic paper binders (U shaped strips of plastic) which I fitted to all the edges and voila - a nice strong and safe ladder guard, much more 'fit for purpose'! Ouch, they are a price indeed, while reasonably handy I don't have a sheet bending facility I am able to use but certainly pepe63's suggestion I can cope with. Many thanks for the replies folks 'Onwards & Upwards' as they say.
