Emissions Certificate for Germany

ANN

Recommended Posts

Going to Germany and Luxembourg for first time this year. Read in the Caravan Club touring handbook about an emissions certificate being needed for certain German cities. We decided we had better get one as we are not quite sure what cities or areas we will be visiting on our months travel and didn't want to risk getting a e40.00 fine. Went to the website they recommended www.umwelt-plakette.de, followed the instructions and paid my money and hoped the badge would arrive before we went. That was on Wednesday evening 30 April 2014. It arrived on Friday 2 May 2014, better than our 1st class post service. We were a bit sceptical about using the internet as you hear so many horror stories these days but we certainly couldn't fault this service. Hope this may prove useful for anyone contemplating going to Germany. :-D

Expensive. We bought ours in Germany from a Euro Master tyre shop for about €8. No problem at all to do and it took only about 15 minutes from first walking in to walking out again with the Plakette.

I quote my own earlier thread which in turn refers to an even earlier thread.

The speed of response from Berlin makes DVLA look shameful !

"As regards buying the plakette see earlier thread at

The main point was to buy it direct from German Government (for 6 euros) at :-

www.berlin.de/labo/kfz/dienstleistungen/feinstaubplakette.shop.en.php

and NOT at

http://www.umwelt-plakette.de

who were charging I think 40 euros
