Mel E Posted September 9, 2006 Share Posted September 9, 2006 Yes, I tried our local one recently - got an answerphone. So don't get too excited! I then tried 999 (an (admittedly fairly minor) criminal offence was being committed at the time) and, once I'd said what was happening, they simply hung up on me. And our Parish Council almost doubled the Council Tax precept this year so we could afford our very own community police officer, which we have to pay about half the cost of to get one. The Tories wrecked police forces by drastically cutting numbers and the current lot have dismally failed to improve things despite lots of promises. And all three major parties seem to have been stretching (if not breaking) the law (over contributions)! Is it any wonder that people are turned off politics and no longer bother to vote????
