brianhymer
Hi, anyone know if the wiper motor on my 1999 B584 is a standard Fiat Ducato item. The gear wheel is worn and the wipers park where they feel like, sometimes not working at all. Any advice welcome.

George Collings
Hi Steve. I do not know if standard fFat parts are used but the fact they still work at times suggest that it may be the electrical self parking set up that is causing the problem rather than worn gearing. I doubt parts are avaliable more likely a replacement unit is all that will be listed. Alas, the wipers are second only to heaters as being the component chosen to wrap the van around. StuartO
My 1990 Hymer gave trouble with the wiper linkage and I'm pretty sure they are non-Fiat Hymer parts, although Hymer will undoubtedly have bought these parts in rather than manufactured themselves. My current 2006 Hymer probably also has Hymer-specific wipers design too, although fortunately they haven't given trouble so far. The guy to phone for advice is Peter Hambildon, who will certainly have fixed Hymer wipers at some stage, probably lots of times: http://www.friendlyhippo.co.uk/hymerdirect/
Archiesgrandad
A quick look at our Pilote shows the wiper arrangement to have two parts, the motor and it's gearbox which appear to be Peugeot, and the the linkage which appears to be model specific. I suspect that most A class are similar. AGD
brianhymer
Thanks to all replies, after a clean and lubricate of linkage there have been no further problems. Although not encountered much rain since. Fingers crossed. Steve ;-)
