bazo
Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has ever attempted to remove the rear bumper from one of these vans? There's a row of screws at the top all along it's length, but Its still held fast after all these are removed and there is no sign of any lower brackets!!! Its exactly the same as the one in the picture. All help greatfully accepted :-D Tony
Derek Uzzell
Welcome to the Out&AboutLive forums. There's advice on Hymer A-Class rear bumper removal here http://www.motorhomefacts.com/ftoptitle-138338-hymer-b614sl-rear-bumper-removal.html (The discussion relates to a B-614SL model, not an E-610, but it may still be helpful.) There's also the possibility that Hymer used a constructional adhesive as well as mechanical fixings when factory-fitting the rear bumper. Coachbuilt motorhomes are rarely designed to be easily disassembled! You might try contacting this company http://www.friendlyhippo.co.uk/hymerdirect/finding.html as they have a lot of experience of older Hymers. Guest JudgeMental
why do you want to remove it.....even if you don't use it it is very handy for damage protection
starvin marvin
You could join the Hymer owners club (HCI), they do have a technical section on-line. £12/yr.
Derek Uzzell
JudgeMental - 2014-07-02 9:31 AM why do you want to remove it.....even if you don't use it it is very handy for damage protection I believe the photo in bazo's posting was provided just to give an example of a Hymer E-610 motorhome and to show the design of its rear bumper. The description given in the inquiry clearly relates to the 'plastic' rear bumper not to a tow-bar (which the Hymer in the photo happens to have.) bazo
Many thanks...I just need to remove the bumper to access a small amount of dry rot which I would like to repair.
