busterlef
Hi there does anyone know where I can buy the black adhesive tape that externally runs along the bottom of the windscreen and onto the scuttle to stop the water running through into the engine compartment. I believe it is placed there for this reason. I live in Essex, England Many thanks
Derek Uzzell
I can't answer your question directly, but your best bet might be to contact a windscreen replacement specialist . For example http://www.windscreenservicesessex.co.uk/
kelly58
Our 1st motorhome was a Compass Suntor 115 on the new then x250 Peugeot which was notorious for the water ingress into the engine bay from behind the windscreen scuttle . On a recall Peugeot fitted FOC an engine cover and also a strip of sticky backed vinyl was stuck along the bottom edge of the screen onto the scuttle to prevent the water entering the engine bay . After about a month the vinyl split so I removed it and binned it a quick fix but a useless one. If it were me I would not waste my money or time on a new strip. Derek Uzzell
These forum threads may be of interest http://www.outandaboutlive.co.uk/forums/Motorhomes/Motorhome-Matters/Fiat-scuttle-seal-to-windscreen/20666/ http://www.fiatforum.com/ducato/112468-multijet-130-water-ingress.html As was said in those threads, to prevent water ingress mastic/sealant would be needed to fill any gap between windscreen ans scuttle before any 'cover strip' were applied. I can't vouch for its effectiveness as a windscreen/scuttle cover-strip but, when the front bumper of my Hobby was grazed by a caravan on a French campsite, I used the stuff shown here to disguise the (cosmetic) damage. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Black-Stone-Guard-Self-Adhesive-Film-1m-X-200mm-/140463775912 It's quite thick and pretty tough, happily surviving several years on the Hobby's bumper with absolutely no sign of degradation.
