Alanb Posted August 19, 2014 Share Posted August 19, 2014 The intention of this post is to inform of an incompatability between cbe auto style 12V sockets and "in car" 5V USB chargers With some of the above chargers the side negative contacts on the plug are closer to the tip than on other 12V plugs. As I found by experience, depending on rotational angle of insertion, this can allow the negative contacts of the plug, to make a short circuit between the negative sleeve and the uninsulated internal positive connecton of the cbe socket. My solution was to dismantle the socket and fit heatshrink sleeving to the uninsulsted internal positive connection.
