Hi Mel64- Although I have not bought from your dealer I have read good after sales service reports of them, and seeing as that they are at least looking to see what can be done is encouraging. Saying that I just cant belive why these problems are not seen and sorted at the PDI, If I were you I would set them a time limit to fully correct all the problems to your complete satisfaction or you will have to inform them that because the vehicle is unfit for purpose you will require a full refund, and belive me the law is on your side on this, and the dealers know this, so accept no excuses ,if offered. Good Luck Chas

Marquis is now owned (since about this time last year) by the Italian SEA Group which also owns Mobilvetta and several other well-known makes. Your steps from here are straightforward: 1. Write formally to the dealer principal listing what needs to be done. Make clear that these things have not been done properly on previous visits and list the dates. 2. In the letter, give them a deadline by which to do these things - say one month. 3. Make it clear that, if they are not done to your satisfaction, you WILL take legal action. You have two possible courses of legal action if the above letter produces no result: 1. If the defects are sufficiently serious as to make the vehicle 'unfit for use', you can reject the vehicle and ask for your money back. You will need to take advice from a legal expert in this area before doing so. 2. If the defects are of a less serious nature, but still impair your use of the vehicle, you can obtain an estimate for fixing the problems from another dealer (not a Marquis one), send the estimate to Marquis warning them that, if the defects are not fixed by a specified date, you will comission the other dealer and bill them. You may have then to take this to the Small Claims Court, adding any costs you have incurred (phone calls, journeys, etc.), but this costs you nothing and them quite a lot. The key throughout is to put everything in writing, firmly but courteously. Document all dates and make it a practice to record all phone conversations or face to face ones. Go back now and do so for what has already happened, with dates, names, etc. With conversations, it is often helpful to write confirming the conversation and actions agreed and asking for their confirmation that this is also their understanding - you won't get it, of course, but no matter as you then have all the evidence. I know this is time-consuming and boring, but it will put any Court on your side.

I fully endorse Mel's suggestion. It worked for me when I was sold a dud by White arches Motorhomes of Wellingborough, Northant's. They messed me about for 2 months until they got a solicitors letter. They couldn't get my money back to me fast enough Don't take any flannel from them. But if you decide to reject the vehicle, do not use it , as doing so constitutes acceptance. To be honest, if it's that bad I would reject it and let them know it and ask for a refund. If it's not forthcoming see a solicitor. It only cost me £87.00 for a letter. Cheap remedy indeed.
