Hello Michael,

I am going to assume that you are talking about a 2.8JTD engine.

This is a fairly common fault and can normally only be rectified by replacing the plug that attaches to the injector that is affected. You cannot buy these plugs separately and in theory a complete loom would be required. We, along with a lot of other specialists and dealers keep old looms for just this purpose so that one can be snipped off and used to replace faulty ones.

The first step though is to get the vehicle plugged into a diagnostic unit in order to reliably determine which injector has a fault. The fault may only exist for a short time and may not be causing a mis-fire but will have been reported to the ECU and stored in it's memory. Wiggling the connectors about will sometimes eradicate the fault for a while but this is obviously not a permanent solution.

Fiat Part 1350885080 seems to be a pigtail repair harness for about £21 which is spliced into existing harness. Do not know if still available or not or if indeed the number is correct. Also available I am told from Bosch Agents.

That's an interesting one. The part number is valid and available but the Fiat ePER system does not direct you to any applications where it would be used. Which is very odd. It is described as 'Cable Harness' which is promising.

It might be worth a go but I can't say for sure that it will fit this application. I have asked at Bosch agents before and been told that these plugs are not available but perhaps this has now changed. The same plug is used on a huge array of common rail diesel vehicles so I always hoped that someone would make something.

Hi Terry I had this problem on my 2004 2.8 jtd and it was diagnosed as a bad connector plug on the injector. I managed to source a single plug from the scrapyard but it did not last very long before it failed.

Fiat only wanted to replace the whole harness at ridiculous cost. After trawling the internet for hours I managed to source 4 new plugs on eBay . The plugs were advertised as self assembly but I rang the supplier and at a small additional cost he attached suitable pigtail wires to them and it was then quite easy to solder them into the existing harness. This was about two years ago and 10000 miles later are still trouble free. The link on eBay is as follows :

Hope this helps

Keith
