liferichcashpoor
Would you experienced lot give me some advice, as last time I asked you were all brilliant ! We are pretty close to buying a Bessacarr E445 It's a 2005, 22k miles, RHD, 2.3 Turbo Diesel Fiat Its on at £24k It is in pretty smart condition, doesn't have solar panel, roof ladder or reversing camera, does have drive away awning, large rear bathroom, oven etc... Two rear tyres have some cracking So question is really, what would you offer the dealer? They have agreed to put two new tyres on the back, and I'm thinking £20k but I'm not sure how much movement there is in screen prices on these beasts... I'm hoping end of season will help him do a deal, but don't want to insult them, or pay too much. Thanks! Andy
steve101
There is an art form of negotiating with dealers and it all comes down to how much of a margin he has in it. I think 4k off would be pushing it depending on the condition. Most used dealers will price vehicle about the right money these days. This is because the power of the internet the customer will simply go elsewhere. Have you thought about using a negotiating service to get you the best deal? Something like this... http://www.motorhomespecialistwales.co.uk/purchase-negotiation/
rudders
Andy, lots of damp floor problems with the earlier bessies my 2008 was riddled after three and a half years, and out of warranty, ensure you get a full damp report before parting with any money,
mikethebike
Andy I concur with Rudders. My wife's cousin bought a 2005 Bessacar without checking it for damp despite my advice and later the same year had to contribute £4000 towards Swift replacing the floor because of severe damp. Less than a year later it's at Swift to have the floor replaced again under warranty this time. I suggest you stay well clear without a thorough damp check. globebuster
All Swift models from that era [and their variants] suffer from poor underbody protection and awful construction technique. Quite often a cursory look will reveal issues - I looked at several vans of this marque ageing from '05-'10 all had varying degrees of ingress - and ALL at the same dealer. Lets hope the new 'Smart' technique will resolve the problem, although the Bessacar I saw at last years NEC show was a disaster waiting to happen.....
