nasher
Hello There, I managed to scrape the skirt on my Ixeo674 motorhome and tried to get touch uppaint. The colour is Fire Red but is unavailable from UK dealers.I e/mailed Mr Knowles at Burstner Germany who said the paint is available in Germany but they are not allowed to export it.I wondered if Burstner owners are aware of this.!! andy mccord
I would of thought that if you asked Burstner for the paint code then you should be able to get it mixed in this country??....failing that try and contact another forum member who is in germany and get them to buy it and ship it back?? Muswell
It may be more than you want to do but if it were to be sprayed out by a good bodyshop they would scan the paint on the vehicle and match it themselves by computer.
pepe63xnotuse
Wouldn't any half decent paint shop be able to mix/match something?...(Sorry Muswell, I crossed your post..)
Brian Kirby
Knowles is actually in UK, not Germany, but the e-mail interface is in Germany. Confusing, isn't it? :-) Only those who want to DIY a paint repair will know. The dealers usually have a tame paint specialist who will match the colour by eye, or by using a spectrometer. Try to find a nearby paint factor who provides a colour matching service. Many can do this, and will make up individual aerosol cans for you. You may find there is a minimum quantity if only a small amount of one of the pigments is required. Get them to do one aerosol, and put the rest into a tin. The water based paints keep quite well - and you never know..........................:-)The problem is that paint is volatile, and special measures are required on ferries, the tunnel, or air-freight, that aren't economical for the small quantities involved. 747
Camper UK in Lincoln used to carry touch up paint for Burstners. I checked recently for my Burstner but I have just checked again for you and only white paint is shown. I would give them a ring on 01522 697070. They have a very good reputation and I am sure they will help you.

Surely....that's the whole point of using a water based paint. Because they've done away with all the ozone depleting volatile elements. But water based paint still needs to be over painted with a 2 pack clear coat, which is loaded with volatiles, as well as very toxic isocyanates. Which should be used with great care, air fed mask etc.
nasher
Thank you everyone for the prompt replies.I should have said that I tried Camper Uk but they do not stock touch up paint.I should also have said, I managed to get a tin of touch up from Wigan Car Paints ,but instead of taking the van I went in the car and took a button off the skirt, which they matched. On getting home I used the paint on the scuff but is not a good match.I wondered if they could lighten the paint a bit. Steve928
One possible line of enquiry is Smith & Allan who will make up a 400ml aerosol of their quality Tekaloid coach enamel in any RAL, BS4800 or BS381C colour for £9.99 To get the idea go to this page and click on 'Select Colour":http://www.smithandallan.com/products/tekaloid-paint/1442-tekaloid-318-formerly-bg18-single-pack-coach-enamel-all-colours/

I needed some in 2006, and that is what Ian Knowles told me then was the reason small quantities of aerosol touch in paint could not be brought into UK. Maybe worth the OP asking if that is still the reason, and then asking how that ruling applies to water based paints. It just may be that no-one at Burstner has re-appraised the old ruling and, if they did, they may find there is no current problem with shipping. Stranger things have happened. flicka
Isn't it the propellant in aerosols that is volatile element ???
Keith T
Very interested in this, as our Burstner Marano (2007 vintage) is in the silver and 'burnt orange' colours (not sure of the 'true names without checking the documentation) and I have found the quality of the paintwork not that good, and lots of chipping on the front lower bumper area..seems to chip more easily than any previous Motorhomes we have owned.. Also does anyone know if the silver of the FIAT is a standard silver which can be bought from the likes of Halfords? Will check the paint colours as shown for Burstner 'orange; and see if I can also get some touchup paint/spray...a very useful and informative post this, thanks!
