Spadge
Driving down to Spain mid Dec for 4 wks, are we best to use the Somport tunnel or is it possible to get over the Pyrenees that time of the year ? I know it depends on the weather of the day but what's the likelihood ? Thanks in anticipation ! :-S
starvin marvin
My advice would be to go down the western side of France and cross the Spanish border at I run. See last months MMM for a routevthats largely toll free.

markh1
I agree, cross on the A63 at Irun, there are often police/military spot checks which liven up a long journey, we were stopped by the French police last time, he no english, me no french so we managed in Spanish! Have only once been held up on this route while they cleared snow (in Mid December 2010), 4 hour wait as the snowploughs came up the carriageway in the wrong direction, then turned and led us down
