Robinhood
...as you say new, I don't know whether things have changed, but the AA say: "Lower speed limits apply to motor homes up to 3.5t; Motorways and dual carriageways 100km/h, 1st category and 2nd category road 45 and 49mph (90 and 80 km/h) respectively." ....which would align with the CC advice. markh1
Thanks, yes I saw that too, but the Spainish equivalent of our highway code or RTA was overhauled in May 2014 and the new regs are now in force, guess I'll need to translate the 21 page doc that covers it in detail as I believe they have specifics for motorhomes now (they didn't previously)
BKen1
I think you will find the 120 kph is for passenger cars only...not van derivatives (camper vans ) which is 100 kph Below is an extract from the EU site for Spain which covers camper vans under 3500 Kg http://ec.europa.eu/transport/road_safety/going_abroad/spain/speed_limits_en.htm Quote. Passenger cars, vans Vehicles below 3.5 t Standard speed limits (unless otherwise stated by traffic signs) [km/h] Urban roads 40 km/h if carrying dangerous goods Non-urban roads with no/narrow hard shoulder (<1.5 m) 90 km/h for passenger cars 80 km/h for light vans (passenger car derivative vans) 70 km/h for vans and light trucks 70 km/h for passenger cars & vans towing a trailer Non-urban roads with hard shoulder at least 1.5 m wide or with two lanes or more in each direction 100 km/h for passenger cars. 90 km/h light vans (passenger cars derivative vans) 80 km/h for vans and light trucks 80 km/h for passenger cars or vans towing a trailer 10 km/h slower than the normal speed limit if carrying dangerous goods Motorways/expressways 120 km/h for passenger cars 100 km/h for light vans (passenger car derivative vans) 90 km/h vans and light trucks 90 km /h for passenger cars or vans towing a light trailer of less than 750 kg (Type O1.) 10 km/h slower than the normal speed limit if carrying dangerous goods
markh1
Yes I saw that page too, but it's dated February 2014, so doesn't reflect the changes made in May by the new regulations, max speed on motorways is now 130kph on some sections for instance
BKen1
Hows your Spanish Mark ...google translate is ok but it s still a bit of gobble de gook in places. Pages 22 /23 should be of interest for us. http://www.dgt.es/Galerias/home/2014/PROY-RG-Circ-CONSEJO-Y-T-AUDIENCIA.pdf So 120 kph for up to 3500 kg camper on the Autovias seems ok Brian
