Guest Brian Ramsden
Following the earlier postings by Barry on the above, 30/11/04, when my policy came up for renewal I went to Insurance-line for a quote. When reading their detailed Terms and Conditions I found that the £39 policy had the following restrictions:- Length limit 17 feet European travel limit 31 days any one trip, and no more than 60 days in any one rear. I had a Talbot Talisman before my current Peugeot based one and from what I can remember it was over 17 feet long, so I wonder if Barry really is covered? Guest Neal
Brian My education (nearly 50yrs at the University of Life) tells me that "common or garden" offers, applying to the "general public" at large, will never, EVER, apply to those of us that are a little "different" and, therefore, have slightly different needs to what passes for the norm. I learnt this many, many years ago (it applies to just about everything) and, reading this forum regularly, I am constantly surprised by the innocence (niavity?) of those who think their "special" needs will be willingly covered by companies who have no wish to even provide for the likes of anyone requiring anything other than the norm. Guest PeteC
Hi I tried SAGA insurance & wa quoted:- No vehicle over 1.9m height 4m length 28 days overseas per trip with a max of 90 days in one year -- To which I made suitable replies about them being offering the service to RETIRED persons who may go for longer periods AND the sizes quoted were the sizes of a car and NOT a M/H The limits have been changed to allow for normal M/H's and you can now go for upto 60 days at a time For longer visits the price goes up as you have to take out a Multi trip & you can have 90 days Siimilarly we used Green Flag for breakdown cover who's limit was for vehicles up to 2000kg We now use the Camping & Caravanning clubs Insurance service and have 90 days in any trip and 180 days per year The CCC's cover with RAC has no weight or length limit You cann get an annual cover for longer trips but what we have now covers our needs
Guest Tony Norton
Just a quick comment, with no axe to grind. Our motorhome insurance from "Comfort" includes RAC recovery service. Might be worth investigating. Tony N
vaughan669
Specialist Insurance is needed for most MHomes. I have used Safegard, Europe Assistance (Camping & C Club) and at the moment Comfort. All cater for my 3.85t 7.5m Bessacar. Saga is a joke and I have told them several times that they 'cannot be serious' when they drop leaflets through my letterbox offering to insure my MH, breakdown service included.
