Hi michele/

What we use is the round plasic mesh they sell for cleaning pots & pans, they come in diff colours & are cheap also they are great for getting bugs ect of the windscreen without scratching it.

Hi Michelle Does the black stuff run down from the rubbers round the windows? Thats where it generally comes from and its the carbon black in the rubber gradually leaching out. This is part of the aging process we all go through! Though not in the same manner! If you clean the van with a good quality car shampoo and rinse off and dry, you will then be able to use Autoglym to remove all the black stuff and other grot thats stuck there. Auto glym has special solvents that really get rid of the stuff and you will be amazed at how much rubbish is in the surface of the rubbers. When dry buff off with a clean cloth for a really good shine. If you do this regularly you will build up a protective coating which stops the black stuff forming and also makes washing the van easier as the water runs straight off. Dont use milton as it is a bleaching agent and will eventaully discolour the paint work Hope this helps VoH

Hi Michelle, If you have a Lidl store close to you get their W5 Bathroom Mousse, its the best thing we can buy, cost 99p quite a tall can, we use it on all the van, tried all polishes. We were told about this through a friend who spoke to a german motorhomer. IT WORKS FOR US.

My husband uses a product called "Silky", it comes it tubs and we got it at the York show for £2.69, we did notice however that the CC site at York was selling it for £3.00 so other club sites might sell it as well. He's never found anything as good as this stuff for shifting the black marks, on both glass fibre and aluminium.

One other idea is Fiamma drip stop. http://www.riverswayleisure.com/erol.html#3340x0&&http%3A%252F%252Fwww.google.com%252Fsearch%3Fsourceid%3Dnavclient%26ie%3DUTF-8%26rls%3DGGLG%2CGGLG%3A2005-45%2CGGLG%3Aen%26q%3DFimma A self adhesive gutter. Add it along the top edge of the MH and the rain runs to the ends. Only two stripes to clean off. We used silicon to seal it to our awning. Incidently has anyone tried to buy Lidl's W5 Bathroom mousse in Europe? Either they were out of stock for the summer or it is banned! In our travels in Germany and France we could not find it at all.
