BRISTOL BALTIC WHARF SITE

Have been to Baltic Wharf several times and still not seen everything. The joy of this site is that its on the waters edge with walks along the river, one way into Bristol itself, with its castle, gardens, good shopping, the SS Great Britain,Blue Glass factory and museum, and the transport museum, all within fifteen minutes walk, or walking the other way, towards the avon gorge with lots of tracks, cycle tracks, walking trails etc. There is a bus service into Bristol within five minutes walk and water taxis stop outside the river exit to the site, but I am not sure how frequently they run at this time of year. Bristol also has an IMAX cinema, well worth a look, a cathedral and the upmarket shopping area near the suspension bridge. Depends how fit you are for this though, as it is quitea climb, but well worth it just to experience all the individual shops - no chain stores up here. I am sure you will want to go back.

We went in July for 3 days - lovely site. If you've got peddle bikes, take them, it's not far at all into Bristol from the site so only takes about 5 mins on bike (be careful near the old cargo rail tracks). If you use the water taxis though make sure you don't go for the last one of the day to get you back to the site as a lot of others do this so you could be disappointed and have a long walk back, that's what happened to some people who stayed on the site when we were there in July. Also, if you walk/peddle round, keep an eye out for Wallace and Gromit ... Aardman Studios are on one of the streets which you go down. There's also a nice pub a minute's walk away from the site, you go out of the waterside gate (you'll get a key) and turn left, nice place to sit on a night with a drink.
