Derek Uzzell
I don’t think any UK insurance provider nowadays will offer insurance on a vehicle that’s being imported to the UK to cover the period while the vehicle is still abroad. There are UK providers that will offer cover (for a limited period) based on the vehicle’s chassis-number, but this cover only commences once the vehicle has arrived in the UK. You might try asking Adrian Flux https://www.adrianflux.co.uk/chassis-number/ (I believe you plan to import a new motorhome to the UK next month, then UK-register it and export it to Spain soon afterwards. This may complicate matters if you only want insurance cover for a limited period of time.)
tomboy99
Yeah, Phoned them all, looks like my best option is to get it imported, leave it in UK till Plates come through and then take it to Spain. Thanks all, Tom
Derek Uzzell
If you haven’t already done so, you could try the following http://www.caravanwise.co.uk/motor-quote/motorhome-insurance.html http://www.coversure.co.uk/ I believe both of these companies were prepared to offer ‘comprehensive' insurance policies that would cover the period abroad when motorhomes were being driven back to the UK by people importing them to this country. This was some years ago and, as there were potential stumbling-blocks even then, those companies may well no longer do this. I’m not aware, myself, of any UK insurance provider prepared to offer cover on a unregistered vehicle while it’s outside the UK.
