Jayne Ferris
Can anyone out there help us please? We are looking for collapsible fabric sun loungers that when opened out stand higher than the normal ones available. Due to mobility issues the normal ones are too low. Whilst in Spain recently, we saw some elderly people with loungers which stood higher and made it so much easier to get up and down from. We would also like the backs to be able to be adjusted to different angles for reclining. Thanks very much for reading this and for any help which may be offered. pepe63xnotuse
Hi.. Sorry, probably of no real help but if nothing comes back from here, maybe have a look/Google on "mobility" based forums? ...or maybe ask the likes of Age UK etc..? Even just "Googling" images of sun loungers, may bring up a useful line of enquiry? Another option, if you have(or get) some decent loungers, maybe it would be possible to have some from of raises made, which could be bolted to them?(obviously, they'd still have to allow them to fold)...either that or maybe get some extra cushions made up, and raise the height that way? Although, raising the height(without increasing the width)could result in them being more likely to tip, so you'd need to keep an eye on that..:-S To be honest, sun loungers can be a pain to get on and off, even without mobility issues..so I wish you luck..:-D Edit: Just a thought: Are we talking, full on,"flat-out-by-the-pool" , sun "bed" type loungers?..or just the "adjustable-folding-chair" type?.. These "look" reasonably easy to get out of?: http://www.philipmorrisdirect.co.uk/gardening/lafuma/futurarecliners/dept/ ...and better still, if used with a cushion.. Jayne Ferris
Thanks for your suggestions :-D We will have a look in to the things you've suggested. We're looking for full on flat beds which the back part can be raised. Thanks again.
colin
Have a look at fishing ones, (go outdoors maybe?) they often have adjustable legs, but can be a bit heavy.
Billggski
Several folding chairs have leg extensions that raise up as you lay the backs backwards. This helps with getting up as you are normal chair height rather than low down, as said, a search could show several examples.

rolandrat
If you look up Isabella Lightweight Furniture you will see the sunloungers that are considerably higher than most. They aren't cheap though but they are very well built. We have two and were a good investment.
StuartO
Even leg support extensions which attach to reclining folding camping chairs (like in this picture) can do a similar job to a sun lounger, because the chair reclines to the near horizontal.
