European Motorhome insurance for 8 months

Hi,

I'm new to motorhome ownership and have just bought a converted van, it's a Mercedes Sprinter first registered in 2000 and certified on the V5 as a motorhome from last year.

I'm struggling to find any company that will insure me and my partner on this van! We are going to be away racing mountain bikes professionally next season so need to be away to 8 months with no breaks to come home.

The current problems that insurance companies don't like are:

- we are under 30, although I have 10yrs no claims on another car/van

- we don't own a house (we sold up to go racing and are now living with my boyfriends parents

- we want to be away with no breaks in travel to come home (some companies state each trip must be no more than 120 days)

- the van is old (14yrs)

- the van was converted by a previous owner not a specific company

Does anyone have any advice for us?

I have tried the bigger companies (comfort and club care etc) with no joy!

Thanks in advance,

Rachael

C&CC insurance is mentioned and in the “Travelling abroad” section on this webpage

a possible trip-duration limitation of 125 days is referred to.
