Hawcara
It is our intention to visit the Dusseldorf motorhome show in 2015. Never having been before, I wonder if anyone has any advice, parking, fees, location etc. We are taking the motorhome. Thinking about next van and the Nec is rather limiting in model availabiltiy Thank you :-D
lennyhb
1st stop is to Join Caravan Salon it's free, both you and anyone else traveling with you need to join. It gives you discount on entry & parking. Card give about 25% discount on entry and I think on 2014 if you brought a ticket on line you got 2 days for the price of 1. It's a big show need 2 or 3 days to get round, show ticket is valid for free local transport, buses, trams & trains. Space for over 2000 vans they charge between 08:30-16:00, free servicing. Worth checking to see if there are any concerts on in the stadium if there are arrive early we got caught out arrived at 9:00pm had to wait until concert was over to get in at 12:30am. Hawcara
Excellent Lenny, thank you very much. Joined just now. When we get the registration, does that tell us how to buy tickets? :-D
lennyhb
They will send you membership cards in the post takes a couple of weeks, you will need one for each of you to get the entry discount. Unless there are any special deals like last year just as easy to by tickets there, you need to look on the Caravan Salon site, probably won't be any info for 2015 show until March, April. You can't book parking/overnight just turn up never heard of anyone not getting in. If you haven't got one worth getting an "Umwelt Plakette" it you are only going to the show then you can get there without going into the emissons zone but depending where you are going after it can make life easier. Forgot to mention for campers there is a big marquee with free entertainment and cheap beer & food, also a stand selling bread in the morning. Also showers & loos if you need them. Makes British shows look like a pathetic rip off.
Hawcara
Again thank you. Yes we have the Emission Sticker, if that is what you mean? Certainly puts Uk into perspective, I think the camping at the Nec is about £30 a night for the one in Feb. :-D
rebbyvid
Nobody has mentioned the Airport. Take ear plugs as the planes start at 6am and then every 2 mins until 11 pm. The Caravan salon gives you entry discounts which also serves as a ticket to travel around Dusseldorf .Parking is very efficient and they slot you in as others leave. We had a nightmare queuing to get in but it depends when you arrive, dont worry about having to arrive after 4 pm (they come round in the morning for fee so anytime in afternoon is ok) .Just drive in use the dump and fill with water if needed as you enter ,then get parked up and they will come round next day with ticket to go pay at the pay desks. Showers are busy but pick your time open 24 hours and will be ok. If you do go for the entertainment and food on site always check your change. . http://rebbyvid.blogspot.co.uk/2014/03/germany-2013.html
Barney123
Just to expand on Lenny's information,.....If you arrive after 4pm you do not pay for that day, you pay for the following days when they come around for payment. So by arriving after 4pm you can get parked up and ready to hit the show early next morning. Dont worry about waiting around to pay next morning as they will catch up with you before you go. I only have one Dusseldorf Card and have been able to purchase more than one entrance ticket into the show. Its well worth a visit

So by arriving after 4pm you can get parked up and ready to hit the show early next morning. Thats the mistake we made everybody goes for the after 4pm entry but we found out they only come round in the morning so if you arrive after dinner you wont be charged for that day.
