Wilberforce
I have just bought an Elddis van on a Peugot Boxer chassis and the radio goes off after 20 minutes. If I change the radio will it make any difference? I have a second radio/cd player I can use. My apologies to those who may have answered this question before. :'(
John H
Hi Wilberforce, If you search for "Fiat radio linked to ignition", you will see that Dave Newell explains how to do it. John.
Wilberforce
Thanks for the information. I have just read the suggested link plus another on the same subject. I am pretty well confused. It all sound difficult and dodgy if not dome right. The question is "Is the timing in the unit or in the wiring?" If I change the unit will it solve the problem? One person intimated that it might. Another said you could change it in the menu. Any more contributions please? Wilberforce
Dave Newell
Your best bet is to follow my instructions on the above mentioned thread. If you don't feel you are competent to do this then any decent auto electrician will be able to do it for you. I would charge an hour's labour so £30 should be about right. D. w1ntersun
Hi, The timing is on the van you need to alter the wiring as above to give a permanent feed. It is done like that to stop the battery going flat. .
Wilberforce
Thank you everybody for your responses. I have just been into the menu on the radio and found "Ignition Timer" set at 20 minutes. It can be reduced to 0 but not increased. Surely that answers my original question about whether changing the radio will solve the problem without mucking about with the wiring. Am I wrong?
