Status 530 Aerial - leak?

We have found there is water coming down the internal pole, but having examined the external parts carefully, cannot see anywhere that the rain can get in.

It appears to be coming either down the outside of the extending pole, or possibly, and we think from observation more likely, actually down the inside of this. We collect the water into an 1 litre ice cream container, and regularly find 1/2" depth in this.

We have examined the roof mounting, and also re-sealed this, but it seems OK, and there is no indication of water ingress into the roof itself.

The aerial appears to be constructed of two parts which sit into each other, and there is no obvious gap in the fitting. We can watch it dripping down every time it rains, but at least we are collecting all the water so nothing is going onto or into the fabric of the van itself.

Any ideas or suggestions? Has anyone on the forum found this on their aerial?

What would be the possible cause? This is simply a leakage. However, HOV lanes, or carpool lanes, allow cars with more than one occupant to skirt jam-packed traffic. It is a benefit for saving fuel and polluting less.

Eh ?? what was all that about ?

Think that these aerials have a Gland that seals around the mast, and keeps the water out, I would think that it is split or folded, and needs a new one.

or it could be the gearbox letting in water

A GOOGLE-search using “status 530 leak” (omitting the quotes) as the search-term will retrieve several discussions about this problem.

Various suggestions are offered depending on whether the water-leak is thought to be through the roof-seal or through the centre of the mast (which seems to be the more usual complaint).

This 2007 MHF thread is one example
