Alan D
There was talk of MyFerry having to close down because of Eu competition rules. Does anyone know what the present situation is? I am hoping to use them this year. Alan.

Brians dad
There has been various speculation on possible buyers for Myferrys 3 ships, such as Stena, DFDS,but nothing firm as yet. The CEO of Eurotunnel is reported as saying 2 weeks ago that he did not see any buyers coming forward, and that he would probably have to close the route by the end of June. It may be that he is engaging in a bit of gamesmanship in order to prod the French government into escalating this into a diplomatic incident, or encouraging the staff to scupper one of the ships at the entrance to Calais docks on 30th June.........or any other devious ploy you may come up with! The ships themselves are designed just for the Dover / Calais service, so would not be attractive to go on any other route, so my guess is that DFDS (or possibly someone else) is waiting for Myferry to finally go under and pick up the ships in a fire sale - DFDS would then have a service to rival P&O frequencies, especially as their present ships on the Calais route are only stopgaps. We are booked back on 3rd July, and although Myferry were offering a good price, we have decided to play it safe and go P&O this time. If you are booked for Myferry after June, they are reported as saying they will transfer you to the tunnel, but it is obviously a bit of a risk.
