Mike B.
Just seen on BBC about horrendous snow in Santander! Is anyone in the area? How bad is it-looks terrible! On a selfish note, we are heading to Bilbao on Tuesday and although the weather forecast looks ok does anyone have 1st hand experience? Thanks Mike PS anyone travelling on the BF Portsmouth-Bilbao 08.30 Tueday morning, come say hello
AlanS
Yes it looks quite bad :- http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-31146535 Makes our recent snow fall look irrelevant in comparison. Alan
lennyhb
My mate came off the ferry about 8:00 yesterday morning by 10:00 am stuck on Motorway at top of mountain, road opened again at 4:00 am this morning, got about 40 miles down the road today then had to turn back to Santander now spending the night 10km from port, 32 hours to get 10km. Please use the motorway direction Santander - Bilbao - Vitoria - Burgos and allow for extra time for your journey. Guest peter
Oooh you are awful Joe. Picking on poor old Dave. We've now got out of windy old Mahal Crevilente (horrible place to put a site) and are now in Los Llanos near Denia. Which is a smallish site that is a bit tired, but it is very sheltered and a couple of minutes walk to the beach. Watch out Dave,we are getting closer to you all the time. :D

Crumbly mountains, looks derelict and desolate, with rubbish dumped all over the place. The site we are on reminds me of a really crap gypo encampment, but at least it is sheltered from the wind. Why don't you de-camp to here. You mobile slum would probably fit in very well. :D

Bojitoes
Who had the idea of getting some winter sun!! We arrived on the BF ferry just after 2 this afternoon. The crew did their best to give us information about road closures and snowfall in the area but they were a little bit in the dark themselves. Their advice is to take the A8 to Bilbao, then pick up the A68 towards Vitoria. The reason being that all roads heading due south from Santander are closed or blocked. Apparently there is a large plateau you have to go across and this is the major problem. We took BF's advice re route but we very surprised at just how far and widespread the snowfall is, we now in Rioja and deep snow all around; we were told it has been snowing heavily for 3 days. Having said all that the major roads are clear and have snowploughs running up and down regularly keeping them clear. Will update if it snows overnight Bob
Bojitoes
short update. We now in Salamanca having stopped at Haro last night when the temperature hit -5. There was no more snow in the immediate area but it did not melt either. We passed lots of deep, deep snow until well south of Burgos. No idea if roads across plateau open yet but I would doubt it however plenty of snowploughs around and no problems driving between Burgos & Salamanca Bob
