Overnight stop near Portsmouth

Hello,

There are a few posts on this subject. You can eat and sleep in the car park at Port Solent only minutes from the ferry. Be careful to stay clear of the health club/gym unless you are getting up early as the fitness fanatics are early risers themselves.

En route you could stop at one of the pubs listed in pubstopovers website. The World's End on the A31 about 5 miles before Wimborne is one such stop but you will probably want to get closer to your ferry than that.

Safe trip!

You can park next to the car park at the port and go get a nice meal in the pub near there ( Think it was called Ship & Castle) As you approach the port, motorhomes, cars etc turn left, freight turns right-pub is just on the right by the freight entrance.

The marshalls will let you park up on the chevron lanes from 9pm for the night free of charge. You can then drive onto the ferry in the morning-if it is the 8.30am to Bilbao 'economie' they do a good English breakfast on board for £4.95.

have a good trip

Mike

Slightly off subject

It has been announced on local Solent Radio. that the Spanish ferry (not sure Bilboa/Santander) will not leave to-morrow wed 25th, due to bad weather, will leave on Thursday Hope this will help anyone due on it, therefore the parking at Port Solent would be useful

Check with BF for further details

Thanks to all for advice. In the event we parked on the road outside Southdowns motorhomes...we had a service appointment. Didn't know you could park overnight in some ferry lanes....may use this method in future.

We are in the Auvergne now en route to Spain...all on blog if anyone interested in non toll route via Rouen, Chartres etc, and stopovers.
