PhilKathryn
I am looking for material to replace the back of my seat cushions. It has worn into holes where it attaches to velcro patches. This is in Hymer 544c 2004 *-)
Wirralian
I shall be very interested to hear what comes out of this post as there is evidence that I may have the same problem in the not too distant future in my Hymer 542cl. John
PJay
Have you tried an upholstery shop? The material on the back of our cushions is a bit like a light weight felt, but no reason not to use any material on the back, I would have thought. You could even use iron on fabric, which would be easier, and as it doesn't show, would not matter if you just put patches ! unless of coarse you are thinking of selling, then maybe worth getting a recover, and increase the cost of sale. Keithl
Hi, You can buy sew on Velcro tape so why not get them repaired with Velcro tape and they you won't have to worry about them holing again. Here is an example... http://www.hobbycraft.co.uk/haberdashery/vilene-and-velcro But you may also find it on eBay or Amazon or even locally. Keith. PhilKathryn
It is the back of the upright seat cushions. It is more like a thin nylon with slight stretch & needs to be attached to main upholstery.
PhilKathryn
It is a nylon with slight stretch that is on the back of upright seating cushions. It needs to be attached, iron on is no good as it is the foam cushion underneath. Don't know how to describe the material that is the problem. PJay
Don't know where you live, but look in your yellow pages or on line, for a loca; upholstery firm, and take a cushion with you, then they may be able to advise you. If you say what make/model van is, others with a similar van may have had the same problem, and be able to help more. PJay Ps often helps to have an area /county and make of van on your profile to help with queries
maggyd
My daughter and I backed her caravan cushions with curtain lining, you can buy curved needles that make it easier, they looked fine and did the job.
yeti
We reupholstered the seats on our 544 and we used brushed nylon for the backing fabric.
PhilKathryn
Brushed nylon sounds like a good option, thank you.
