Solution found to central locking problem

The central locking on my 2008 ducato went haywire with flashing indicators, clicking noises but not actually working when trying to operate the remote control. It would work with the key in the driver's door.

Having had horrendous quotes from Fiat for replacing the key fob at nearly £300, I went to a local auto electricians. He was convinced the middle, locking button on the key fob, was in constant contact with the chip, hence the malfunction. I got a new key fob from E-bay for £5, and he cut the chip out of the old fob, and put it in the new one. A locksmith cut the blank key in the new fob to match the old one.

Hey presto, for a total cost of £20 I now have a perfectly functioning remote and central locking again.

I just thought I would let you know in case people have the same problem.
