DonB
How big a problem is having to stop using an 85cm dish in windy conditions, and are some makes better at withstanding winds than others? Thanks for any advice you might be able to give.
lennyhb
As long as a piece of string, depends on wind speed and direction. Last van had a Oyster 85, in strong winds the picture would break up and as the wind force gets up you could hear the dish banging about - time to take it down. Obviously if the wind is blowing across the side of the dish not much of a problem but face on probably need to take it down when wind strength gets above force 6-7 gale force 8 defiantly. Have a Snipe on the new van never had to take it down.
Guest Had Enough
I wind mine down if it's a modest wind as you can get occasional nasty gusts and I'm not prepared to take the risk.

Guest peter
If you hear the dish start to rattle then lower it. It doesn't happen very often though. It would have to be gale force, like you get in Spain in the winter. (well it is whenever we're there). :D
