Keukenhof Gardens

We plan to take about a week to visit the Keukenhof Gardens towards the end of April and we do have a few places to visit lined up - Kinderdijk, Dordrecht, possibly Het Loo, Ypres, Menin Gate, to name a few more or less along the way from Calais to Amsterdam.

 

I wonder if there are other places perhaps not so well known that other folk may know of along the general route that are perhaps worthy of inclusion please?.

 

We like old towns, rivers lakes and canals, gardens, castles and churches sometimes, peace and quiet but not isolation and we are not so keen on city centres with the noise and bustle!

As its on your route Brugge is always worth a visit. The aire is only minutes from the old town centre on foot.. If you don't want the bustle the canal network runs right past the aire also with plenty of interest along it's good path/cycle ways.

If you like nature and walking etc its very nice along the coast from Noordwijk ann Zee, Dunes and woodland and great cycle tracks and not too far from Leiden.

Gent well worth a visit, free Aire by the Leisure centre, tram to centre close by.

We have been to Ghent and Brugges before but another visit may be on the cards as they are both well worthy of a second visit.

Must be about 35 years since we visited Holand and Keukenhof, I seem to recall Delft and visit to pottery was fairly interesting, as was the wlldlife and canals of Amsterdam.
